Climate Action Planning

The Town of Carbondale has identified climate action planning as a priority. The first climate plan for Carbondale, the Energy and Climate Protection Plan, was adopted in 2006. Now, ten years later, the Town has directed us to inventory progress made towards the goals, convene community workshops, and draft a new plan reflecting local climate priorities.

We are calling upon a Citizen Advisory Group to engage in a series of three workshops to inform the climate action planning process and to propose solutions for greenhouse gas reductions. This broad-based group of almost 50 community members is composed of representatives from diverse backgrounds, including small business owners, long-time residents, energy practitioners, artists, non-profit staff, and more.

In order to meet our shared climate goals, we recognize that government, businesses and individuals will need to work together. Public participation in creating solutions will be invited, please stay tuned for more information on how to engage with this process.

This webpage hosts information on the Citizen Advisory Group meetings and local announcements. We have educational resources, including example Climate Action Plans and relevant articles, available under Resources.
